Agada tantra or toxicology is a branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda, which includes the science of poisons. The tradition of Agada tantra practice is very ancient. It originated from the school of toxicology, which was founded and run by Kashyapa, also known as Vriddhakashyapa, the great saint and medical practioner.

Agada tantra deals with various natural and artificial toxic substances and poisons in detail along with their antidotes , the signs and symptoms and also the management of poisoning resulting from the bites of snakes, insects, spiders, rodents etc as well as from the combinations of various other poisons  & fatal doses of various poisons. Deals also with medicine in relation to the law, legal aspects of medical ethics and standards. This  discipline finds a parallel in the modern discipline of Toxicology & Forensic medicine.


Department of Shalakya Tantra aims to propagate the knowledge of Urdhwanga rogas, the diseases of Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Oral cavity and their management. This branch of Ayurveda highlights the importance of “Uttamanga”, the Shiras- the seat of Indriyas and Prana and the methodologies to protect it with atmost care

In the hospital OPD, the students and house surgeons get a very good exposure to many diseases refractive errors, retinal diseases, hearing loss, otitis media, nasal polyp, deviated nasal septum, different types of rhinitis, sinusitis, migraine etc. Other than OPD patients, averages of 10-15 IP cases are regularly available in the hospital.

The special treatment procedures conducted in the Kriyakalpa include Seka, Ascyotana, Pindi, Bidalaka, Tarpana, Putapaka, Anjana, Avaguntana, Karna dhupana, Karna pramarjana, Dhumapana, Nasya, Nasapichu etc.


Kayachikitsa or General medicine is the first branch of Ayurveda. This branch deals with the systemic illness of affecting the young and old. Various sub branches like Manasaroga (Psychiatry), Vajikarana (Aphrodisiac) and Rasayana chikitsa (Rejuvanation therapy) comes under Kayachikitsa.

Diseases pertaining to nervous system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, urogenital system and skin are managed managed effectively in this department.


Panchakarma deals with five Bio -cleansing therapies which deals with important treatment procedures in Ayurveda to manage diseases.

  • Virechana-Therapeutic purgation
  • Kashaya vasthi-Therapeutic enema with decoction
  • Sneha vasthi-Therapeutic enema with unctuous material
  • Nasyam-Nasal administration of medicine

These procedures should be performed after proper analysis and in-depth clinical examination of disease.

DEPARTMENT OF Swasthavritha

Swasthavritha department deals with the preventive and social aspects of health. The branch emphasises maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of diseases through dietary and lifestyle regimen. Dinacharya and Ratricharya (Daily routine), Rithucharya ( Seasonal regimen), dietary guidelines for healthy and sick, Sadvritha ( Code of conduct), and Yoga are the main highlights of the department.


To establish the principles of Shalyatantra in a scientific, safe and effective manner in view of modern scientific medical knowledge.

To establish a centre of excellence in the management of Ano-rectal diseases for the popularization of Kshara karma and kshara sutra treatments.

To establish a Pain clinic for the management of various musculo-skeletal disorders through Agnikarma.

Effective management of various cases of non-healing, chronic infected ulcers by the principles laid down in Shashtirupakrama.

To establish Jalukavacharana for the effective management of ulcers, skin diseases and gangrene. Bandaging and effective treatment protocols for marma and orthocases .


Kaumarabhritya, the pediatric speciality is one of the eight main branches of Ayurveda. The horizon of Kaumarabhritya, dealing with child health care is vast and challenging.

According to Kashyapa Samhita, Kaumarabhritya is the most important branch, as the other divisions play their role only after the child matures into an adult.

The child should be both Physically and mentally capable, to be an active participant of the society. Child health and nutrition is always a prime focus of attention for every parent. Also, today's children are the future citizens of the nation: hence it's the responsibility of the kaumarabhritya physicians to provide them with the best care.
